Apparently he's been hanging these on and off since Trump but people weren't having it this week.
EAST VILLAGE — A pair of Confederate flags hanging in the windows of a building on East Eighth Street has enraged passersby — leading a man to hurl rocks at the residence and forcing police officers to stand guard outside.

The Confederate flags — which neighbors said have hung in the windows for at least months, along with a pair of Israeli flags — stirred outrage this week after white supremacist groups demonstrated in Charlottesville, Virginia, over the weekend, leaving a woman dead. On Wednesday morning, an incensed man was caught on video pelting the building at 403 E. Eighth St., at Avenue D, with rocks and threatening to break the windows while shouting at an unseen man he believes may be the flag-bearer.

This shit should have its own thread. For if it happens, it will be the most significant event in all our lives.

Two most important things that you need to know:

    1. On July 28th NK successfully test launched an intercontinental ballistic missile that reportedly reached a maximum altitude of 3,700 km (2,300 miles) and went a distance of around 1,000 km (600 miles). Experts estimate that if the missile was flown on a standard trajectory it would have a range of around 9,000 to 10,400 km.

    2. On Aug. 8th the Washington Post reported that US intelligence services concluded late last month that NK can now miniaturize nuclear warheads on its missiles. It has been known that NK has had nuclear weapons for about 10 years.

So if there is a war with North Korea, it most likely will be a nuclear war, and NK now seems to have the ability to reach most of the US (and Canada).

In other words, this shit is no joke.

The is a map of how far NK missiles will need to travel to hit places in the US and Canada:

If there is a war what will you do?

The NYPD sergeants union says that cops are the victims of “blue racism,” and it’s facing backlash from critics who call the claim tone-deaf.

Ed Mullins, the president of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, hopes the concept of blue racism will help ease the tensions between law enforcement and the communities they serve and debunk the stereotype of cops as biased and racist.

“Something is occurring where law enforcement is becoming the target of this national racist issue, this back and forth, and being labeled the bad guy when we’re not the bad guy, we’re actually the good guy,” Mullins told Yahoo News.

On Sunday night, the police union released a controversial video that claims police officers are judged not by race or ethnicity but “an even broader stereotype, through an even more racist lens.”

“When they look at me, they see blue,” the narrator says. “To be blue, I and over 700,000 brother and sisters swore an oath to uphold the constitution of my country, my state and my city, so help me God. Yet, even in such numbers, I’m a minority as this strange form of racism continues to engulf the country.”

The video, which includes audio of the notorious “dead cops chant,” was based on an essay by John Pappas. It was written after NYPD officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were murdered in December 2014 as supposed retribution for the deaths of Eric Garner on Staten Island, N.Y., and Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo. Similar incidents include the killing of five Dallas cops and the killing of three Baton Rouge cops in July 2016.

“The purpose of the video was to highlight blue racism, blue bias, whatever term, and get people to understand that we too feel this bias, racism, no different from the people who’ve been affected by it for many years. We don’t agree with it. Nobody should agree with it,” Mullins said.

The video sparked almost immediate backlash on social media. Critics said the police union doesn’t appear to understand racism, defined by Merriam-Webster as “a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.”

For critics, even as an analogy, the concept of blue racism simply doesn’t hold up and belittles the discrimination — including harassment from police officers — faced by people of color.

When given an opportunity to respond to these critiques, Mullins said, “The people who you described to me just now have very valid points and I understand them. But it’s now an opportunity for us to navigate through all of that to say, ‘How do we fix the real deep-rooted issues?’”

The video concludes by condemning the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va. Mullins said he’s received some calls or emails from members of the NYPD who are happy that the organization is “finally explaining” the hostility to which its officers are subjected.

“The video serves as an instrument for learning,” he said. “Maybe other people will look at it and go, ‘Wait, maybe we got someone who is willing to listen.’ You got this white Irish union leader for police that may get it. So maybe that’s the way to go.”

Job searching is one of my least favorite things to do in life. I'm educated, no criminal record, have a good resume, diverse skill set, and a good work ethic but for some reason I've always had a difficult time finding jobs. My job searches always take longer than they should an I always end up becoming very frustrated. What are some ideas to land a job that I want in a reasonable amount of time without becoming angry, frustrated, pissed off and tired?

its time this got its own thread. The Breakfast Club has changed the game in radio. They are now leaps and bounds ahead of their competition.

So far in 2016, they have had some DOPE interviews.

had to start the thread off with the one that coined the term "chatty patty"

    KISSIMMEE, Fla. —
One Kissimmee police officer has been killed and another is in grave condition after what authorities said was an ambush style shooting Friday night.

Kissimmee police chief Jeff O'Dell said Sergeant Sam Howard and Officer Matthew Baxter were shot when they responded to a call in the area of Palmway and Cypress streets shortly before 9:30 p.m.

Baxter, a 3-year-veteran of the department has been pronounced dead and Howard, a 10-year-veteran, was gravely injured, O'Dell said.

Police were called to the area to investigate suspicious activity. As the officers arrived and began speaking with three people, a fourth person emerged and fired at police, authorities said. The officers did not have an opportunity to return fire, O'Dell said.

Police said the shooting happened in an area known for drug activity.

O'Dell said three people are in custody, but a fourth remains at large.

Kissimmee police said it has been 25 years since an officer died in the line of duty. Sergeant Douglas Odell Parsons died on April 27, 1993 of a heart attack and Patrolman Thomas Alan Bartholomew was shot and killed July 18, 1983.

President Donald Trump, Florida Gov. Rick Scott and Central Florida’s law enforcement community are mourning with the Kissimmee Police Department Saturday.

Trump tweeted early Saturday, “My thoughts and prayers are with Kissimmee police and their loved ones. We are with you!”

Scott said on his official Twitter account that he is “heartbroken to hear of the loss of Kissimmee police officer Matthew Baxter. Praying for a quick recovery for the officer in critical condition.”

Central Florida’s law enforcement agencies also offered condolences to the Kissimmee Police Department.

On its Twitter account, the Orlando Police Department said, “Please keep @kissimmeepolice in your prayers tonight.”

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office also offered its own message of comfort, saying, “Our solidarity is with @kissimmeepolice as they deal with this tragic loss.”

  • 07/22/14--16:11: The General Business Thread
  • Alright yall this is a spinoff from the Tax Implications thread that was started by @JonnyRoccIT‌ . I made this thread to help out anybody who has general questions about getting started or going forward, legal matters in business, financing/banks/credit, how to find information, building websites, structure, taxation, business plans/proposals, investing, motivation - anything that has to do with running a business please ask the question here and me or @pralims will answer you promptly.

Anything that has to do with even supplying apps or anything for that matter that can help someone, anybody, somewhere do something easier or better will be greatly appreciated.

To kick things off I have put the topics in spoilers to make the O/P organized and easier to browse for mobile users.

    Business Entity/Legal Structures

    Sole Proprietorship

The simplest structure is the sole proprietorship, which usually involves just one individual who owns and operates the enterprise. If you intend to work alone, this structure may be the way to go. The tax aspects of a sole proprietorship are appealing because the expenses and your income from the business are included on your personal income tax return, Form 1040. Your profits and losses are recorded on a form called Schedule C, which is filed with your 1040. The "bottom-line amount" from Schedule C is then transferred to your personal tax return. This is especially attractive because business losses you suffer may offset the income you have earned from your other sources.

As a sole proprietor, you must also file a Schedule SE with Form 1040. You use Schedule SE to calculate how much self-employment tax you owe. In addition to paying annual self-employment taxes, you must make estimated tax payments if you expect to owe at least $1,000 in federal taxes for the year after deducting your withholding and credits, and your withholding will be less than the smaller of:

    1) 90 percent of the tax to be shown on your current year tax return or

    2) 100 percent of your previous year's tax liability.

The federal government permits you to pay estimated taxes in four equal amounts throughout the year on the 15th of April, June, September and January. With a sole proprietorship, your business earnings are taxed only once, unlike other business structures. Another big plus is that you will have complete control over your business--you make all the decisions. There are a few disadvantages to consider, however. Selecting the sole proprietorship business structure means you are personally responsible for your company's liabilities. As a result, you are placing your assets at risk, and they could be seized to satisfy a business debt or a legal claim filed against you.Raising money for a sole proprietorship can also be difficult. Banks and other financing sources may be reluctant to make business loans to sole proprietorships. In most cases, you will have to depend on your financing sources, such as savings,
    home equity or family loans.

If your business will be owned and operated by several individuals, you'll want to take a look at structuring your business as a partnership. Partnerships come in two varieties: general partnerships and limited partnerships. In a general partnership, the partners manage the company and assume responsibility for the partnership's debts and other obligations. A limited partnership has both general and limited partners. The general partners own and operate the business and assume liability for the partnership, while the limited partners serve as investors only; they have no control over the company and are not subject to the same liabilities as the general partners.

Unless you expect to have many passive investors, limited partnerships are generally not the best choice for a new business because of all the required filings and administrative complexities. If you have two or more partners who want to be actively involved, a general partnership would be much easier to form.

One of the major advantages of a partnership is the tax treatment it enjoys. A partnership does not pay tax on its income but "passes through" any profits or losses to the individual partners. At tax time, the partnership must file a tax return (Form 1065) that reports its income and loss to the IRS. In addition, each partner reports his or her share of income and loss on Schedule K-1 of Form 1065.

Personal liability is a major concern if you use a general partnership to structure your business. Like sole proprietors, general partners are personally liable for the partnership's obligations and debts. Each general partner can act on behalf of the partnership, take out loans and make decisions that will affect and be binding on all the partners (if the partnership agreement permits). Keep in mind that partnerships are also more expensive to establish than sole proprietorships because they require more legal and accounting services.

The other portion is in the next post
