Couple admit to beating a restaurant owner to the floor and punching her teenage daughter in the face because they were sold cold fried chicken

Nathaniel and Latasha Smith, 45 and 28, were caught on video beating a restaurant owner and her teenage daughter in Baxley, Georgia, on June 22

The couple had complained their food was cold before launching the attack
Owner Jeanette Norris was left with a broken nose, while her 15-year-old daughter suffered a concussion from the beating

Nathaniel and Latasha turned themselves in on the morning of July 5

The Smiths pleaded guilty on Friday to charges of aggravated assault and cruelty to children

Another great actor has left us and this time it’s Earle Hyman who was well known for his role as Russell Huxtable on The Cosby Show and as the voice of Panthro on ThunderCats.

While most well known for his role as grandfather Huxtable on The Cosby Show, Hyman was also a prominent stage and film actor.

He was born in North Carolina and moved to Brooklyn as a child and that is where he began honing his acting skills in the theaters of New York.

He scored an Emmy nomination for his role as Russell Huxtable in 1986 for playing a positive father figure to Bill Cosby on the successful show. In real life, he was only 11 years Cosby’s senior and was first cousins with another great talent Phyllis Hyman.

Due to the success of The Cosby show, Hyman continued to play the beloved character in the sitcom’s Lisa Bonet led spin-off A Different World.

It’s been confirmed that he died on November 17th at 91 years old. However, the cause of death has not been revealed as of this time

News of Libya ‘slave market’ stirs controversy

News of black men being put on sale at a Libyan “slave market” has drawn outrage from the African Union (AU) and triggered violent protests in Paris.

Guinean President Alpha Conde, who is also the chairman of the AU, demanded on Friday that the “despicable trade” be stopped, the slaves be set free, and the perpetrators be put on trial.

The outrage was sparked by a CNN report showing footage of a live auction in Libya where black youths were being sold for hundreds of dollars to buyers as farmhands.

“These modern slavery practices must end, and the African Union will use all the tools at its disposal,” Conde said.

The black youths on sale in Libya are generally African asylum seekers from nations such as Guinea, Senegal, the Gambia, Mali, Nigeria, and Niger. Media reports say many of the asylum seekers end up in the wrong places and lose their freedom to gangs that are either led or are in cahoots with human traffickers.

The asylum seekers-turned-slaves had sought to cross through the country and travel over the Mediterranean Sea to Europe, where they sought to ultimately settle.

Libya has opened an investigation into the slavery report, saying it would free the slaves, according to the CNN.
“A high-level committee has been convened encompassing representatives from all the security apparatus to oversee this investigation,” said Anes Alazabi, an official with the internationally-recognized government of Libya’s Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency.

“Priorities of the investigation are not only to convict those responsible for these inhumane acts, but also to identify the location of those who have been sold in order to bring them to safety and return them to their countries of origin,” said the Libyan official.

Libya has been in a state of near chaos since 2011, when its long-time dictator, Muammar Gaddafi, was ousted, and rival militia groups and factions started vying for power and territory.

Protest in Paris

In related news, protesters carrying signs reading “No to slavery in Libya,” gathered in front of the Libyan Embassy in Paris on Saturday to protest the practice of slavery.

The protesters, chanting “Free our brothers,” then marched toward the Champs-Elysees, where they were cut off by riot police.

Clashes broke out as security forces moved to disperse the protesters, firing tear gas into the crowd. Police said the protest was unauthorized. One person was arrested.

I've been meaning to post this for about two weeks now and was going through my phone looking at pics I took and ran across this shit:

The wife and I were at Walmart a couple of weeks ago and she needed eyeliner or something like that so we head over to the makeup section. While she was looking for what she needed I was looking at their clippers, thinking it's about time I finally replace the Wahl and Conair joints I bought about 25 years ago. She called me over to help her grab something and while she was looking at it I looked around and saw this:

See that shit??? See how slick that shit is? You might miss it if you were just taking a glance at it but me being the type to look at which Black women are being included in advertising like this ran across a Black man... Ain't no White dude in that shit, ain't no Asian or Latino cat in that shit, nope but they sure as shit used Black man to advertise makeup for women. I've always said on here that there's been an effort to undermine the perception that the Black Man is the epitome of masculinity and shit like this pretty much confirms that.

Alright yall this is a spinoff from the Tax Implications thread that was started by @JonnyRoccIT‌ . I made this thread to help out anybody who has general questions about getting started or going forward, legal matters in business, financing/banks/credit, how to find information, building websites, structure, taxation, business plans/proposals, investing, motivation - anything that has to do with running a business please ask the question here and me or @pralims will answer you promptly.

Anything that has to do with even supplying apps or anything for that matter that can help someone, anybody, somewhere do something easier or better will be greatly appreciated.

To kick things off I have put the topics in spoilers to make the O/P organized and easier to browse for mobile users.


Business Entity/Legal Structures

Sole Proprietorship

The simplest structure is the sole proprietorship, which usually involves just one individual who owns and operates the enterprise. If you intend to work alone, this structure may be the way to go. The tax aspects of a sole proprietorship are appealing because the expenses and your income from the business are included on your personal income tax return, Form 1040. Your profits and losses are recorded on a form called Schedule C, which is filed with your 1040. The "bottom-line amount" from Schedule C is then transferred to your personal tax return. This is especially attractive because business losses you suffer may offset the income you have earned from your other sources.

As a sole proprietor, you must also file a Schedule SE with Form 1040. You use Schedule SE to calculate how much self-employment tax you owe. In addition to paying annual self-employment taxes, you must make estimated tax payments if you expect to owe at least $1,000 in federal taxes for the year after deducting your withholding and credits, and your withholding will be less than the smaller of:

1) 90 percent of the tax to be shown on your current year tax return or

2) 100 percent of your previous year's tax liability.

The federal government permits you to pay estimated taxes in four equal amounts throughout the year on the 15th of April, June, September and January. With a sole proprietorship, your business earnings are taxed only once, unlike other business structures. Another big plus is that you will have complete control over your business--you make all the decisions. There are a few disadvantages to consider, however. Selecting the sole proprietorship business structure means you are personally responsible for your company's liabilities. As a result, you are placing your assets at risk, and they could be seized to satisfy a business debt or a legal claim filed against you.Raising money for a sole proprietorship can also be difficult. Banks and other financing sources may be reluctant to make business loans to sole proprietorships. In most cases, you will have to depend on your financing sources, such as savings,
home equity or family loans.


Partnership

If your business will be owned and operated by several individuals, you'll want to take a look at structuring your business as a partnership. Partnerships come in two varieties: general partnerships and limited partnerships. In a general partnership, the partners manage the company and assume responsibility for the partnership's debts and other obligations. A limited partnership has both general and limited partners. The general partners own and operate the business and assume liability for the partnership, while the limited partners serve as investors only; they have no control over the company and are not subject to the same liabilities as the general partners.

Unless you expect to have many passive investors, limited partnerships are generally not the best choice for a new business because of all the required filings and administrative complexities. If you have two or more partners who want to be actively involved, a general partnership would be much easier to form.

One of the major advantages of a partnership is the tax treatment it enjoys. A partnership does not pay tax on its income but "passes through" any profits or losses to the individual partners. At tax time, the partnership must file a tax return (Form 1065) that reports its income and loss to the IRS. In addition, each partner reports his or her share of income and loss on Schedule K-1 of Form 1065.

Personal liability is a major concern if you use a general partnership to structure your business. Like sole proprietors, general partners are personally liable for the partnership's obligations and debts. Each general partner can act on behalf of the partnership, take out loans and make decisions that will affect and be binding on all the partners (if the partnership agreement permits). Keep in mind that partnerships are also more expensive to establish than sole proprietorships because they require more legal and accounting services.

Keri Claussen Khalighi was a 17-year-old fashion model from a farka when she met Brett Ratner and Russell Simmons at a casting call.

Ratner was an up-and-coming music video director and a protege of Simmons, the Def Jam Recordings mogul. They took Khalighi to dinner one night in 1991 at Mr. Chow in New York, and then back to Simmons’ apartment to show her a music video they’d been working on.

Quickly, Simmons began making aggressive sexual advances, yanking off her clothes, Khalighi said.

“I looked over at Brett and said ‘help me’ and I'll never forget the look on his face,” she recalled. “In that moment, the realization fell on me that they were in it together.”

Khalighi said that Simmons, who was then about twice her age, tried to force her to have intercourse. “I fought it wildly,” she said. He eventually relented and coerced her to perform oral sex, she alleged. “I guess I just acquiesced.”

Ratner, meanwhile, “just sat there and watched,” she said.

Feeling “disgusting,” Khalighi said she went to take a shower. Minutes later, she alleged, Simmons walked up behind her in the shower and briefly penetrated her without her consent. She said she jerked away, then he left. “It hurt so much.”

ANN ARBOR, MI - A 38-year-old Lima Township mother is headed to prison for having sex with two teenage boys last summer.

Brooke Lajiness was sentenced to four years and nine months to 15 years in prison on several counts of criminal sexual conduct in Washtenaw County Trial Court on Monday, August 7.

Lajiness trembled and verged on tears while reading a written statement to Judge David Swartz prior to sentencing.

"This has been the biggest regret of my life," she said. "My family means everything to me, and I've caused them great pain for these regretful choices I have made."


The boys were 14 and 15 last summer when Lajiness lured them in with naked pictures of herself on Snapchat. The 38-year-old began showing up at their parents' houses for late-night sexual trysts in her car, according to investigators.

The mother of the then-14-year-old victim addressed the bold meetings in the impact statement she wrote for the court, which was read aloud by a victim advocate.

"You made a conscious effort on several occasions to make arrangements to meet my son," the mother wrote, "sneak out of your house, start your car, leave your husband and children at home and drive to my son's father's house, back into the driveway between midnight and 4 a.m., wait for my son to run the driveway, commit a crime and leave. Did you know that this was wrong? Did you ever worry about the harm you were doing to my son?"

Reports: Mueller Impanels Grand Jury In Federal Russia Probe

Robert Mueller, the special counsel overseeing the federal investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, recently impaneled a grand jury as part of the probe, several news outlets reported on Thursday.

The Wall Street Journal reported, citing two unnamed sources familiar with the matter, that the Washington, D.C. grand jury “began its work in recent weeks” and is separate from the one assisting with the probe into President Donald Trump’s former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. The impanelment of that jury predated Mueller’s appointment as special counsel.

Reuters confirmed, citing two unnamed sources familiar with the matter, that Mueller convened a grand jury.

The empanelment of a new, separate grand jury reflects the scope of Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the election and whether any members of Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia.

Reuters also reported that grand jury subpoenas were issued in connection with a meeting between Donald Trump Jr., the President’s eldest son, and a Russian lawyer.

Trump Jr. attended the meeting after he was promised damaging information on Hillary Clinton as part of a Russian government effort to aid his father’s campaign. It was not clear whether those subpoenas were issued by the grand jury Mueller impaneled.
