Georgia Domino's pizza delivery guy spits game at female customer through text messages

By: Katie J.M. Baker

When a woman ordered a pizza from her local Domino's last week, she expected cheesy deliciousness, not cheesy unsolicited come-ons/harassment. But that's what she got. A few hours after Alice*, a 23-year-old from Stone Mountain, Georgia, had ordered and enjoyed a Domino's pizza, she received a text from an unidentified admirer who signed all of his missives with "$Bands$"

The first text read: "Did you have pizza today." When Alice repeatedly asked who $Bands$ was, he wrote "Guess" before "I delivered yo pizza seen you was fine and wanted to holla at you." When Alice asked where he got her number, he said "The caller id," even though she had placed her order online. "You got my number from your job?" she asked. "Yea can you forgive me i should of just asked," he texted. "You was looking good so i just wanted to see whats up"

The manager at the store Alice ordered from told us that no one with that phone number worked for him and refused to comment on whether they had a privacy policy in place that prohibited employees from using customers' personal information to contact them off the clock. But when we called Alice's new friend, he confirmed that he was a Domino's Pizza employee before hanging up.

Tim McIntyre, Vice President of Communications at Domino's Pizza, was able to quickly identify him by contacting the franchise owner and said the driver would be terminated because "his conduct goes against everything we stand for."

"I'm sorry that our customer experienced this kind of idiotic behavior and we do apologize to her," McIntyre wrote in an email. He explained that Domino's has policies and procedures in place to protect customer privacy and ensure that the company doesn't share or sell any customer information, but not against contacting customers "because it is essential in a delivery business to be able to do so" to verify orders or confirm an address.

"Up until now, we've not needed to state explicitly that employees are prohibited from contacting a customer for any reason other than the transaction of business," McIntyre said. "We don't have a 'do not hit on the customer' policy because we've never needed one until now."

Why Isn't Closing 129 Chicago Public Schools National News?

audio in lank^

"If you don't live in Chicago you might not know that the CEO and the dozens of other six figure a year mayoral cronies who run the Chicago Public Schools want to close 129 public schools this year, more than a third of the city's total. It's not national news for the same reason that closing 40 public schools in Philadelphia last year wasn't national news, and massive school closings in the poorer neighborhoods of cities across the country is not news either.

It's not news because school closings and school privatization, the end game of the bipartisan policies the Obama administration, Wall Street, the US Chamber of Commerce, a host of right wing foundations and deep pockets and hordes of politicians in both parties from the president down are pushing down the throats of communities across the country, are deeply unpopular. The American people, and especially the parents, teachers, grandparents, and other residents of poorer neighborhoods where closings and privatization are happening emphatically don't want these things.

Even the word describing their policy, “privatization” is so vastly unpopular that they've taken it out of circulation altogether. The best way, our leaders imagine, to contain and curtail resistance to their deeply unpopular policies is to avoid naming them for what they are, to keep them on the down low, to not report on their implementation, and certainly to not cover any civic resistance to them.

Local elites in each city and school district concoct real or imaginary “crises” to which the solution is always firing more experienced teachers, hiring more temps in their place, instituting more high-stakes testing, closing more public schools and substituting more unaccountable (and often profitable) charter schools, frequently in the same buildings that once housed public schools. In Chicago the “crisis” is precipitated every year when the CPS (that's Chicago Public Schools – Chicago's never had an elected school board, they're all mayoral appointees) honchos announce the schools are in a billion dollar hole. The Chicago Teachers Union of course, took a look over the same books and revealed that despite the host of top $100,000 a year officials whose jobs never seem to be cut, the system was nine figures in the black, not ten in the red. Naturally, local and national media didn't report that either.

Chicago's teachers have done what those in New York, Houston, Dallas, L.A. and others have not, and spent their union dues funding outreach and collaboration with parents across the city, so neighborhood hearings on the school closings are packed to overflowing with outraged parents, indignant local business people, angry teachers and concerned students. If CNN, MSNBC, or Fox News gave the school closings and privatization story a fraction of the coverage they gave deceptive and dishonest pro-privatization movies like Waiting For Superman and Won't Back Down, the outrage against the move to privatize education would be unstoppable. The most coverage the wave of school closings have received lately was a misleading segment on Melissa Harris-Perry's weekly TV show on whether school closings were “racist” or not, with no examination of the how or why they happen or the growing resistance to them.

Oceans of ink and hot air have been expended claiming that “social media” would somehow take up the slack created by the disappearance of local news gathering organizations, and how these things can somehow fuel and sustain a wave of public outrage that can topple unjust authority and make the will of the people felt. But when it comes to the war of our elite waged to privatize public education, we haven't seen it yet."

it seems like black people will always side with other black people when given the chance (90%+ voting for Obama.. yeah i doubt 90% of millions of people think the exact same way regarding politics), so how can reasonable black people possibly expect whites to ever side with them? it'd just be giving your race the advantage, not equalizing it.

idk, random thoughts at late hours. im sure someone will come in here and condemn this thread as a troll thread or something, even though i dont really do that kinda shit. its just intriguing to me and some shit i see regularly.

NJ Cop Punches Woman in the Face (Video)

Video:http://www.nj.com/union/index.ssf/2013/03/elizabeth_police_launch_intern.html#incart_m-rpt-2

ELIZABETH — An internal investigation has been launched into a viral YouTube video that shows an Elizabeth police officer punching a woman in the face as he tries to break up a melee outside of a nightclub last weekend, officials said today.
The officer will remain on active duty while police investigate a 20-second YouTube clip, said Kelly Vence, a city spokeswoman.

Vence declined the identify the officer, and said the woman who was struck has not spoken to authorities. A police spokesman refused to comment on the incident.

In the clip, which has gained more than 11,000 views since it was posted on March 3, the officer is seen attempting to break up a fracas outside of Envy Night Club on North Broad Street. After walking away from a crowd of roughly 10 to 12 people, the officer grabs hold of a man in a black vest and shoves him to the ground. Once the man falls, a woman wearing a red dress appears to grab the officer’s arm, and he responds by punching her.

A man who identified himself as the club’s owner said he didn’t know if the participants in the brawl were at the club over the weekend. James Carey, chairman of the Elizabeth chapter of the People’s Organization for Progress, called the incident "despicable." He said the altercation marked the second time police had injured an unarmed citizen in 48 hours. A police-involved shooting last Friday left a Roselle man seriously injured. That incident is also under investigation.

"This needs some oversight before this gets out of hand," Carey said. "These guys are out of control."

In that incident, Sharif Tankard was shot several times in the legs after a scuffle with police inside the Oakwood Plaza housing complex. Authorities claim Tankard disarmed an officer before he was shot, but community activists contend Tankard was defending himself from police.

Wayne Fisher, a former deputy director of the state Division of Criminal Justice, said the woman appears to have initiated the physical contact, and encouraged residents to wait for the entire story to come out before criticizing the officer.

A spokesman for Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesea declined to comment on the video, but referred to the state’s guidelines on use of force by police, which says officers may use physical force to defend themselves if they feel they are facing a legitimate threat.

"She clearly grabs him before he swings, and this is an immediate sequence of him being confronted by another person," Fisher said. "This happens very quickly and it is not clear from the video that the officer has done anything wrong."

City Councilman Frank Mazza said he knows the officer involved in the latest incident but declined to identify him. He described the officer as a "good cop" who has been with the department for 12 years.

Mazza acknowledged the video is jarring. "The action itself is definitely unacceptable, but we don’t know the circumstances that led up to it," Mazza said. "I’m sure there is more than what we actually saw in 10 seconds."

Udi Ofer, executive director of the state chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, called for a thorough investigation. "It’s difficult to understand the entire context of this incident from this video alone, but certainly the final punch ... raises very serious concerns about excessive force and must be investigated fully and immediately," he said.

We, the undersigned, would like the Obama administration to recognize the need for a new national anthem, one that even a decade after its creation, is still hot and fresh out the kitchen. America has changed since Francis Scott Key penned our current anthem in 1814. Since then, we have realized that after the show, it’s the afterparty, and that after the party, it’s the hotel lobby, and–perhaps most importantly–that ’round about four, you’ve got to clear the lobby, at which point it’s strongly recommended that you take it to the room and freak somebody. President Obama: we ask you to recognize the evolution of this beautiful country and give us an anthem that better suits the glorious nation we have become.

Paul+Butzki,+Maria+Butzki+and+Peter+Gruman.jpg

When mum-of-two Maria Butzki left her husband Paul for another man, she didn’t realise how much she’d miss him.

At the same time, she couldn’t imagine living without her new lover Peter Gruman.

So when the two men struck up an extraordinary friendship, she came up with the perfect solution... and moved Peter into the family home in Barking, East London.

Now Maria, 33, Paul, 37, their two children, Laura, 16, and Amy, 12, and Peter, 36, live as one big happy family.

“People might think it’s weird but I love both men and couldn’t choose between them,” says Maria, a housing liaison officer.

“When I left Paul there was a huge hole in my life. But the thought of never seeing Peter again was heartbreaking. So living with both men is the only way.”

SUNDAY%20MIRROR%20ONLY%20Maria%20Butzki%20with%20her%20family-1739737.jpg

Incredibly, the men agree. Paul, a railway assessor, says: “Peter is a great guy. When Maria first had the affair with him I was just heartbroken. But as I got to know him, I realised we have so much in common. We both adore fishing, and he’s like a surrogate dad to the kids.”

Peter, a construction site manager, adds: “We all get on so well. It doesn’t feel as if I’m sharing Maria. There’s no jealousy ...it feels as if we area team.”

It was last year that they all moved in together after three years of Maria to-ing and fro-ing between her husband and lover.

Peter sleeps on the sofa while Paul has a room upstairs. Maria shares a bedroom with her eldest daughter.

She says: “The three of us never share a bed. Although I have a sexual relationship with each man, that side is kept very private. If Paul is out, then Peter and I might make love, and vice-versa. But both men turn a blind eye and we never discuss it with one another.”

Maria was 15 when she and Paul met at school. After dating for two years, she unexpectedly became pregnant. Paul proposed seven months into her term and a month later they married. Four years after the birth of Laura, Maria had their second daughter Amy. But in 2006 their marriage hit a rocky patch.

Maria says: “Paul was out of work for six months and it put a strain on our relationship. The stress led to less sex and we grew apart. Although we carried on with life – cooking, cleaning, looking after the children – we’d lost our intimacy. The relationship was more brother and sister than a couple.”

Around the same time a new manager, Peter, started at Maria’s workplace.

“Someone introduced me to Peter and when we smiled at one another, I could feel the chemistry straight away,” she says. “Until that moment, I’d been happily married for 13 years to my childhood sweetheart and had never thought about being with another man.”

Peter, who was also married at the time, recalls the same instant attraction. “It was like a bolt from the blue... love at first sight,” he says.

Soon the pair were meeting secretly. “We’d meet at the local pub for lunch,” says Maria. “One day he put a hand on my leg and my whole body began trembling with desire. I knew it was wrong but soon we were sleeping together.”

Their affair carried on for a year before Paul stumbled on messages between them on Maria’s phone. She managed to convince him they were just friends. But a few months later her lover left his wife and moved from Luton, Beds, to be closer to Maria in Barking.

“I grew even closer to Peter,” says Maria. “Paul had to go away on business for a few weeks and so Peter took the children shopping, spoiling them rotten with gifts.”

But on Valentine’s Day in 2010, Maria says she could no longer cope with the secrecy. “I began to feel more and more that my future lay with Peter,” she says. “So I confessed my affair to Paul, and moved out to stay with Peter.”

Paul and the children were devastated. He says: “I was just shocked and heartbroken. I couldn’t believe Maria had left me.”

Over the next few months Paul and Maria took turns to have the children. “I felt bad about tearing the family apart,” says Maria. “So after work I’d go and clean and cook for Paul and the kids and then go home to Peter.”

Paul says: “While I was so upset, I decided to try to put the children first. It was going to be much better if we could all be mature adults and be amicable about it. I could see Peter was a decent guy. When the kids went to stay over I knew he was putting himself out to make sure they were happy. I’d go to pick them up and we got chatting.”

Over the next year their relationship became even more amicable. Maria says: “Rather than cook two separate dinners, it was easier to just do one and all sit down together. Paul and Peter got on so well they went on a fishing trip together. We even started going on days out and holidays together.

“It was strange but I noticed I felt at my happiest when we were all together. The children adored having both of them around too.”

Then in November 2012 the tenancy on Peter’s rented flat came to an end. He went to stay with a friend and Maria moved back to the family home. Maria says: “It was supposed to be a temporary arrangement but while I missed Peter terribly, it was fantastic to be back as a family.”

When Peter found another flat, Maria decided it was time to sit both men down and be honest with them. “I said I loved them both,” she says. “I said I couldn’t face living without either of them.”

To her delight, both men said they understood.

Peter says: “By now Paul and I had developed a huge respect for each other. We didn’t see one another as rivals for Maria’s affections. We were friends who got on well. At the same time I’d come to care so much for the children. It seemed natural to live together.”

Paul says: “Maria was and still is my soulmate.”

The “family” are now in the process of buying a larger house to accommodate them all.

Maria admits many friends and family find the arrangement difficult to understand.

SUNDAY%20MIRROR%20ONLY%20Fishing%20Pals%20Peter%20Gruman%20and%20Paul%20Butzki-1739739.jpg

“Some people are shocked, mostly because they get the wrong idea and think it’s some sort of threesome,” she says. “Most people seem to think I should just remain with Paul, but those who see all of us together think differently.” She adds: “There are huge benefits to living together. For example, as Paul and I leave for work early, Peter is often able to take the children to school.

“Ultimately the children benefit from three adults able to help with school work or give them lifts. Financially too, it makes sense as the bills are split three ways.”

Ironically, Maria is now the one who sometimes gets jealous. “I’m left on my own when the pair of them go on a long fishing trip,” she says.

She’s unsure what the sleeping arrangements will be in their new house. “But we would never have any sort of rota where I sleep with Peter one night and Paul the next. I do know I’m very lucky to have two wonderful men in my life.”

Indiana woman lost more than 80% of her scalp in freak go-kart accident, receives care (W/Pics)

By @ DAILY MAIL REPORTER

An Indiana woman who lost more than half her scalp during a horrific go-kart accident six months ago is now going through the difficult healing process. Shelbi Crouch, who before the accident had beautiful long, strawberry blonde hair, now spends her time visiting plastic surgeons in order to repair her scalp. She nearly died after her hair caught in the axle of a kart at Whiteland Raceway Park in Indianapolis, her first ever ride in one of the vehicles.

According to WTHR, Ms Crouch was wearing a helmet and some sort of neck brace. She was told that her hair was fine peeking out from underneath the helmet. But when the kart hit a bump, her hair somehow got lodged in one of the axles. Her hair and scalp was essentially ripped off. Her mother, Sherri Crouch-Wilson, told the station that her daughter suffered a whole host of injuries, including a skull fracture, traumatic brain injury, broken temporal bones, and paralysis on her face.

Mrs Crouch-Wilson said that the most difficult thing for her daughter remains coming to terms with her loss. ‘She’s really struggling with…the identity of not having that hair and probably never being about to have her own hair,’ she told WTHR in September. Ms Crouch, who was voted to have the best hair of her high school class, now frequents doctors’ and surgeons’ offices to repair the damage from the freak accident.

Already, the 20-year-old has had several painful surgeries and skin grafts, and can expect many more. For now, Ms Crouch often covers her head with hats, caps, and scarves. Many ask her if she’s undergoing chemotherapy. Her story can be further read in the Daily Journal.

ok. now over the last few years, id say about 5 years, ive been having a lot of dreams about the end of the world (or so it seems and is the vibe of the dreams), for example: groups of people getting escorted by multiple armed guards / army men, with signs of destruction everywhere, like, fires, tore down houses and buildings, etc... dreams where UFOs and jets are flying over us dropping bombs and shooting lasers thats blowing things up.. and those types of dreams and they occur frequent. id say every few months max i get these.. but it seems the last year i been getting them more and more.

but this dream i had last night was a little different... this dream, it was at a live basketball game, and on the court, was this black slime that somehow got on the court.. it was real a mess in a way that it was like long stringy creepy looking letters that nobody seemed to notice was readable except me... im the only person that saw that it had any type of significance... i couldnt make it out looking at it straight on, so i turned around with a mirror and looked at it backwards, and the black mess / writing spelled out, "HELL IS COMING SOON 666".... then the floor workers came and swept the mess to the side with not a 2nd thought..

i woke up with my heart racing a 100 mph..

Zimbabwe: Lion Mauls Woman to Death as She has Sex with Lover

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/442888/20130306/lion-mauls-woman-death-zimbabwe-having-sex.htm

A lion killed a woman while she was having sex in the bush with her boyfriend, reports have emerged. He managed to escape wearing nothing but a condom.

The woman, identified as Sharai Mawera, was mauled to death in the attack in Mahombekombe, Kariba in Zimbabwe. She was severely injured in her neck and stomach.

Her boyfriend, a fisherman who was not identified, heard the lion roar, MyZimbabwe reported. They had been having sex in a sideways position and he managed to escape wearing nothing but a condom.

He turned back to see Mawera being mauled and rushed to a nearby road for help.

Motorists refused to stop, however. As he was naked, it is presumed that many thought he was suffering from mental health problems.

A source said: "Later on people heard his plea and accompanied him to the police station, where he reported the matter.

"Cops and officers from Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority attended the scene and fired at the animal.

"The woman had already been killed. She had bloody bruises all over her body. Her neck and tummy had been mauled."

A man in the same suburb of Kariba was mauled to death a week ago, police said. They believed he was attacked on his way home from a nightclub and said it could have been the same lion that killed Mawera.

Locals are living in fear of further attacks, the news site added.

While big cat attacks in Zimbabwe are fairly rare, another took place near the Zambesi River in 2010, when a man was killed by a pride of lions while he was bathing.

Tourist Pete Evershed was using an outside shower when four or five lions attacked.

Eight villagers were killed over the space of two months and the attacks only stopped when a pride of lions was killed.

Are Poor Black Americans Screwed?

http://www.theroot.com/views/are-poor-black-americans-screwed?page=0,1

The article is pretty long so here is some quotes that stuck out to me.

"According to the Integrated Public Use Microdata Series current population survey data, the percentage of blacks living far below the poverty line (50 percent or less) has essentially remained constant since 1968, at 15 percent, even though the overall black poverty rate fell from 40 percent in 1968 to 30 percent in 2012. At the other extreme, the percentage of blacks among the comfortably middle class (incomes at least five times the poverty level) quadrupled, rising from a negligible 3 percent in 1968 to 13 percent in 2012.

Yes, the black middle class has grown. Roughly 1 in 4 blacks in 1968 (27 percent) could be classified as middle class (income two to four times the poverty level). That figure in 2012 was up to almost half, or 47 percent. About half of this growth in the size of the middle class occurred between 1968 and 1978. The remainder is spread more evenly across the next three decades. Despite these changes, blacks today are more than twice as likely as whites to be in extreme poverty, at the low end, and half as likely as whites to be in the comfortable middle class at the high end (having reached the level of representation in this category in 2012 that whites had attained more than four decades earlier!)."

"What really worries the black middle class is that the poor and near-poor segment of the black population is a large fraction of the entire community, and their disadvantage seems more intractable than ever. This anxiety is only aggravated by the fact that even middle-class blacks have far greater difficulty passing along their class advantages or success to their children than comparable whites. And perhaps most of all, the angst behind the worry is a product of the failure of our leaders to put forward a compelling strategy, message or agenda on how we should deal with these challenges.

On these first two points, a major Pew Center report showed, for example, that nearly "two thirds of blacks (65 percent) were raised at the bottom of the family income ladder as compared with only 11 percent of whites. The same pattern exists for family wealth: 57 percent of blacks were raised at the bottom, but only 14 percent of whites were." Moreover, the same report showed much higher rates of downward mobility for middle-class blacks than for middle-class whites, and far lower rates of upward mobility for poor blacks as compared with poor whites."

I'd like to hear the IC's thoughts on this. I would comment on this article, but I'll just let Dr Claude Anderson speak on it.
