Crack dealer escapes undercover bust, then sells to same officer two days later and gets busted

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – A 21-year-old city man spotted an undercover Providence police officer attempting to buy drugs, but still sold him $40 worth of crack cocaine in a downtown drug bust Wednesday evening.

_____ was charged with two counts of unlawful delivery of crack cocaine as well as possession of marijuana and intent to deliver marijuana after officers say he set up a drug deal with the undercover cop near Washington Street, according to a police report.

Detectives originally attempted to bust _____ on Tuesday night after he sold $30 worth of crack to the same cop, but they lost his vehicle as they attempted to follow him downtown. On Wednesday, ______ text messaged the undercover cop to say “wassup detective” and the officer denied he was a member of the police department.

_____ then informed him that he had more crack and the two set up another drug deal near Washington Street around 5 p.m. After pulled up in a car and delivered the drugs, he was promptly swarmed by officers and arrested.

The police also detained , who was a passenger in 's car. ____ was carrying $2,165 in cash, but was not charged.

____ admitted to police that he sells “a little bit of crack cocaine to make money” and said he kept a scale and bagging materials at ______ on the South Side. Detectives searched the property and found those items as well as a glass jar containing 15.8 grams of marijuana.

______ was due in court Thursday.
