Joyner, who said he was moved by Jeantel's testimony at the trial and her appearance on CNN's "Piers Morgan Live," offered her assistance and funding to pursue a college degree at a historically black college or university on his radio show Tuesday.
"If you want to do that, I want to help you do that. I will help you get tutors to get you out of high school, tutors to help you pass the SAT, and I will give you a full ride scholarship to any HBCU you like," Joyner said.
"Thank you," Jeantel said. According to Joyner's website, BlackAmericaWeb.com, the teenager was "in shock from the offer."
Throughout the interview, Jeantel was not particularly loquacious. When the call started, Joyner told Jeantel "I really do love you," and she responded, simply, "I know."
Jeantel indicated she might be interested in a career in law enforcement.
