I think we could use a little break from the race talk and the Zimmerman verdict to reflect on some of the good we do or have done to make someone's life a little more comfortable.

Yesterday I was at Best Buy and this white ladies car stalled and would not start. She had her grand child with her. I could tell she has a uncaring family because she asked to use my cellphone so she can call her son. She begged him to come pick her and his daughter up and he refused. Her daughter did the same.

They seem to be very exhausted and dehydrated so I got them some water and let them sit in my car in the A/C while i looked at her car. I don't know much about cars so I asked Best Buy if I could leave the keys and car there until later. I then took the lady and child home which was about 30 miles out of my way. Wen't back home to get one of my mechanic friends to look at the car and he discovered it was her alternator. He happened to have a replacement part on a junk car so we went back to grab it. He installed it pretty quick and before you knew it the car started right up.

I didn't have the lady's number but remembered where I dropped her off so my friend drove her car and followed me. I wasn't sure which house was hers but one of her neighbors recognized the car and told us which house.

I'm usually a hardened person but when I seen this lady start crying with joy when we returned her car then cry more when we declined to accept payment it almost made me weak. I feel like that is one less white person who probably thought we are all bad proven wrong. It was well worth it.
