Disclaimer: The company I'm being investigated for has to deal with 200 jurisdictions around the world, so checks are pretty thorough... but just as a caveat for y'all on the IC pay attention:
I just got off the phone with the company that's doing my background checks for my new gig. I can't start until they get done, which will hopefully be in time for my start date of April 1st. What's trippin me out about this background check is how intense they are with it.
Every company that I've listed as a former employer, they've contacted them to verify my employment.
Every school I've said I attended, they're pulling records (including my high school).
Every county I've ever lived in or have had ties to, they're pulling records from them... No matter how short a time I've lived there (I lived in Macomb county back in Michigan for only two months). They pulled records from a county I hadn't lived in since I was 13. If anything pops up, I had better have listed the shit on my application (i.e. bullshit "criminal" misdemeanors... This includes driving on a suspended license, which are the only misdemeanors I have)
And the drug screen... Hair samples. All you cats out there smokin' would be royally fucked by this.
I didn't even have to have a background check like this to work in Defense. A simple piss test and an FBI check and I was good.
Word to the wise, don't lie on applications in the corporate world anymore. They're getting to the point where they're not taking your word on shit anymore.
