Two children and a pilot were missing Friday after a small plane missed its landing and slammed into two Connecticut homes, leaving a scene of "total devastation," officials said.
The missing children, who were in one of the homes, are 13 and 1 years old. Their mother, who survived, was meeting with a priest, officials said.
"Unfortunately, we haven’t recovered anybody at this point and we presume there is going to be a very bad outcome for two people reported to be in the house," Chief Doug Jackson of the East Haven Fire Department said at a briefing.
An hour later, officials said they had spotted two bodies in the basement of one home but had not reached them or determined who they are.
