The adult film actress who tested positive for HIV, leading to a temporary shutdown in porn production, has identified herself publicly.
Cameron Bay has worked in the industry since 2010, but not on a regular basis, according to Mark Schechter, owner of the talent agency that represents her, Adult Talent Managers LA. Schechter said Thursday that it is more than likely she did not contract HIV while working on a set.
“As we are all trying to absorb this information and take appropriate actions as necessary, I urge each and every performer to refrain from any production until the moratorium is lifted industry wide,” he said in a statement. “We have already taken the necessary steps to cancel any and all shoots that are scheduled through ATMLA.”
The Free Speech Coalition, a Canoga-Park-based industry trade group, called for a halt to production on Wednesday after learning of a positive HIV test by a performer. The group’s calling of a moratorium is voluntary, but most of the larger companies follow the coalition’s lead.
The coalition issued a statement from Bay that read: “As difficult as this news is for me today, I am hopeful that no other performers have been affected. I plan on doing everything possible to assist the medical professionals and my fellow performers. Following that, my long term plan is to take care of myself and my health.”
The coalition said her HIV-positive status was confirmed in two separate tests by different services. It also said there is no indication that any other performers have been infected, but that “As a precautionary measure, the production moratorium will remain in place until all first generation partners have been tested and cleared.”
Schechter said his agency notified all who she had performed with and is working with doctors to complete testing to confirm no one else has been infected.
“I personally spent the better part of the afternoon yesterday with the performer, consoling and assisting in the necessary steps that are needed at this time,” he said in the statement.
“I ask you all to join me in positive thoughts and prayers going out to our performer who has been affected by this ordeal, as well to all performers in the industry who are also affected by this be it directly or indirectly due to the circumstances that prevail at this time.”
The website gawker.com reported that Bay’s most recent film shoot was an unprotected sex scene about three weeks ago with an actor named Xander Corvus. He was best known for having portrayed Anthony Weiner in a recent porn parody of the New York politician’s sexting scandal. That film, “Weiner and Me,” was shot this summer and released this week, and it involved an unprotected sex scene with Sydney Leathers, one of the actual women who were sexting with Weiner in his most recent scandal during the New York mayoral campaign.
Leathers told the site that both she and Corvus had received clean test results prior to shooting their scene together.
