Not a legal expert, and the charges could theoretically get upgraded but how is this dude not automatically charged with attempted murder and all that other shit ?

Maiden’s best friend, 12-year-old T.J. Liesmann, heard the gunfire and then saw his friend running with his jaw in his hand.
Cloninger was arrested for injury to a child and is being held on a $2.2-million bond.
