I never fully read the original report but I always assumed that black women made up 48% of the reports cases of genital herpes. So far I know that there is around 21% of women in this country who have genital herpes compared to 11.5%. So if blacks only make up 12% of the total population I guess it isn't beyond the realm of possibility. With that being said do guys know anyone with genital herpes (or at least know someone who admits to having it)? They say 85% of people who have herpes don't even know it. So logically you have to figure that the figures of people with genital herpes is much higher.
How do you fathom the fact that you may be sleeping with someone who has genital herpes? Especially if your the type that gets around. Do you assume the condom is always going to protect you? Herpes is a viral skin infection so it can be transmitted through skin contact alone. Pretty scary shit.
