Have you ever been fired from a job? Perhaps laid off?
How do they go about it? At my job, they ask people to come into the conference room and when they come out, they leave straight out the door and have their employee ID confiscated. I've always wondered how managers approach the conversation. I would like to think that they are sensitive and compassionate because I just can't imagine someone flatly saying "You're fired" like in the movies. That seems so cruel and unlikely.

Or if you've ever been in a managerial position and had to fire someone.... do tell.
