Long story short, my femme and I recently got into a semi-heated argument regarding matters of success and independence.

* Her Story ~
Spoiler:
• She moved out at 17 to pursue a degree at a four-year University on a low-income based scholarship
• She's been out of the house ever since, living in dorms / Has held down apartments with friends / colleagues
• Got her degree in four years, Got a good job straight outta school
• Currently rooms with a fellow Graduate in a two-bedroom, in a good part of town
• She's 22

* My Story ~
Spoiler:
• Went to school in town, stayed with folks
• "Dropped Out" to pursue self-employment with the skills I had as I had as a designer / developer (self taught)
• Launched my business, Have been holding it down Dolo, Making money like I've never seen before (Way more than her, and my Rents, ftm..)
• Moving out of Rents' place to Chicago in a few months, Plan on Finishing my degree / Learning a few things I'm not confident I can teach myself, Can pay for school out of pocket
• I'm 23

* The Story ~
Spoiler:
>>> Shorty recently tried to label a nigga as "bougie and coddled." Coddled because I've been with my Rents this whole time, and Bougie because I aspire to have nice things.
<<< I told her that I've stayed at home to utilize the foundation I had (family) to comfortably start a business, sacrificing certain liberties and freedoms, so that I could build a better life.
>>> She says that she's amassed life experience and maturity, scraping and struggling to get what she has, and that she's done so independently.
<<< I said that I intentionally avoided riding on the Struggle Bus, so that I could secure success, not just independence; And transition out of the nest comfortably
>>> She said that she's more responsible for what she has (a Degree, her Experiences, her Independence, her Money / Job)
<<< I said that she's also responsible for her debt (25K+, Scholarship didn't cover everything), and that I'm self-employed making Waay more than her, and that I'm ultimately in more control of my life (No Debt, No Boss, No Roommate, More Free Time, More Money)

* The Point ~
Spoiler:
Now, there are many things at play here...

• Moving Out -vs- Staying @ Home
• Employment -vs- Self-Employment
• Independence -vs- Success
• "Struggling and Scraping" -vs- Taking Advantage of Resources
• Do people that "come from less" get to define success?
• Do people that "come from more" have claim to their accomplishments?

* The Agenda ~
Spoiler:
Discuss.
